Who We Are?

MicroRem is a precision microbiome technology company dedicated to developing microbe-based biotechnologies for biofertilizer and bioremediation. The company was founded and registered in Alachua Florid in March 2017.  MicroReme is located in Sid Martin Biotech Institute University of Florida and the lab is equipped with a complete set of instruments (gassing station, gas tanks, anaerobic tubes, and anaerobic glove boxes) for anaerobic microbiology.


What Technology We Develop?

MicroReme technology focuses on how to use microbes to remediate environmental contamination and restore soil quality. We strongly believe that our research efforts will contribute to a better understanding of how bacteria are beneficial for soil restoration and environmental cleanup.  Our ongoing technology development works include:

Bioremediation

  • in situ soil bioremediation for heavy metals contamination sulfate reducing bacteria

  • Crude oil biodegradation

  • Plasticizer biodegradation to restore vegetable planting soil in facilities

Biofertilizer

  • Animal waste residual fat/proteins conversion into organic fertilizer using fat degrading bacteria

  • Next generation bio-phosphorus fertilizer using phosphorus solubilizing bacteria

  • Biological fermented waste conversion into liquid biofertilizer

The above projects are all tailored for specific needs based on the demands from industrial partners.  MicroReme focuses on "naturally occurring-but uncultivated" bacteria from natural samples and supplies them into biofertilzers for organic farming business or bioremediation purposes.

Unlike most microbiome companies providing microbiome sequencing analysis services, MicroReme provides microbial pure culture-based R&D services for multidisciplinary research areas such as

  • Human/Animal/Plant microbiome studies

Especially, MicroReme provides customized anaerobic microbiology research services.  Our services are totally based upon the requests from our research clients.  We usually perform bacterial isolation/cultivation/assay projects once we receive the environmental samples from our clients. All anaerobic bacterial isolations and assays are carried out under strictly anaerobic conditions. MicroReme services include:

  • Target specific anaerobic bacterial isolation: from sample to pure culture in single tubes

    • Denitrifying bacteria

    • Fermentative bacteria

    • Sulfate reducing bacteria

    • Iron reducing bacteria

  • High throughput bacterial cell banking: from sample to pure culture in 96 well format high throughput tubes
